Transmark Fcx b.v. is begin 2006 ontstaan door de integratie van Transmark Nederland en FCX Netherlands - in de markt nog bij velen bekend onder de oude naam Ubel & Ventil. Gevestigde ondernemingen die ieder hun sporen in de afsluiterwereld ruimschoots hadden verdiend. Het fundament voor dit samengaan werd gelegd in de zomer van 2005, toen de multi-nationale moeder-ondernemingen Transmark en FCX een fusie aangingen. Wanneer wordt gekeken naar rechtsopvolgingen in rechte lijn, is Transmark Fcx op het gebied van afsluiters en andere appendages al sinds 1920 actief.

OUDKARSPEL – Het lijkt moeilijk voor te stellen, een belangrijke speler op de markt van gas en olie direct onder de rook van het rustieke Oudkarspel. Toch koos Transmark EDS voor die locatie. Afgelopen vrijdag opende het bedrijf haar nieuwe pand, dat het centrum moet worden van alle activiteiten. Een tweede pand volgt binnen afzienbare tijd.

Bij de opening keek zo’n beetje de hele wereld mee. Niet letterlijk, maar de dik tweehonderd gasten van Transmark EDS kwamen wel uit alle windstreken. Europa, Afrika, de Verenigde Staten, Canada en meer. Vreemd is dat niet. Internationaal gezien neemt Transmark EDS een veel bescheidener positie in dan bijvoorbeeld het grote Halliburton, maar het bedrijf beschikt over kennis en technieken die in de hele wereld aftrek vinden.
In de eerste plaats gaat het om het boren naar olie en gas. Dat was ook het oogmerk waarmee Tom Newman en Lauraine Kaal ruim tien jaar geleden de European Drilling Service begonnen. ,,We hebben grote klanten in Gaz de France, Shell en het Duitse Wintershall. Voor hen boren we putten op vele locaties’’, vertelt directeur Wynand Hoogerbrugge. ,,Maar de technieken die we daarbij gebruiken zijn vaak heel specialistisch. We boren niet alleen verticaal, maar vooral gedevieerd of horizontaal. Het eerste houdt in dat er onder een hoek wordt geboord, en dat kunnen er maar een paar in de wereld.’’ Hij kijkt rond in de grote hal, waar veel materiaal van Transmark EDS en haar leveranciers staat opgesteld. ,,Er staan hier nu meer technische snufjes dan op de twee recent gehouden grote beurzen van deze business in Houston en Aberdeen bij elkaar’’, zegt hij niet zonder trots.
De fusie zo’n twee jaar geleden met Transmark – een concern dat zo ongeveer aan de andere kant van het olieproces zat met hun afsluiters en kleppen – bezorgde EDS bovendien nieuwe perspectieven. ,,De samenwerking is fantastisch’’, stelde oprichter Newman nog maar eens tijdens de opening. ,,Door de fusie beschikken we nu over de financiële middelen om het bedrijf naar een hoger niveau te tillen. Een nieuw pand, nieuwe technologie, Transmark EDS is klaar voor de toekomst.’’
Newman werd daarin gesteund door Gerard Krans, grootaandeelhouder van Transmark. ,,Wij gaan van dit bedrijf onze core business maken, en dat betekent dat er in de toekomst geld wordt vrijgemaakt voor grote investeringen.’’
Daarbij hoort, aldus Hoogerbrugge, ook een tweede nieuwe pand. ,,Dat moet in 2010 op de grond naast het bedrijf komen. Het wordt vooral een testcenter.’’ Transmark EDS heeft dan alle onderdelen op één locatie, en dat was ook de bedoeling van het bedrijf, dat voorheen meer verspreid door Noord-Holland zat. Hoogerbrugge: ,,Onderhoud en kantoor zat twaalf kilometer uit elkaar, in Akersloot en Heerhugowaard. We zijn trots dat we nu in dit nieuwe pand alle delen van het bedrijf hebben kunnen integreren.’’
Dat nieuwe pand werd vrijdag officieel in gebruik genomen door Coen van Beelen, voormalig head drilling bij Shell en inmiddels 83 jaar. ,,Maar iedereen kent hem’’, stelt Newman. ,,Hij is een absolute legende in de oliewereld, en het is een eer dat hij ons pand wilde openen.’’ Van Beelen onthulde een plaquette waarop nog eens werd gerefereerd aan het werk dat Newman en Kaal hebben verricht voor EDS en de grote betekenis die zij voor het bedrijf hebben gehad.
De aanwezigheid daarbij van zowel klanten als leveranciers was van groot belang, stelt Hoogerbrugge. ,,Wij willen graag de mensen waarmee we zaken doen laten zien waarmee we bezig zijn, hoe wij ons ontwikkelen. En de reacties zijn heel positief. Onze partners geven er blijk van graag mee te willen gaan in de groei die Transmark EDS doormaakt. Dat is absoluut nodig. Wij kunnen het namelijk niet alleen. Iedereen heeft een hoge vorm van specialisatie en alleen samen kunnen we grote klussen klaren.’’
En groeiplannen zijn er wel degelijk. Het bedrijf boort al lang in Nederland, Frankrijk, Duitsland en Polen. ,,Inmiddels doen we dat ook in Spanje, en nu zijn we volop bezig onze blik te richten op Afrika’’, aldus Hoogerbrugge. ,,We hebben iemand die vanuit Oudkarspel met regelmaat naar Libië gaat, waar we nu nieuwe activiteiten ontwikkelen. Zodra de zaak goed op poten staat, gaan we ook daar boren.’’

The new to install break out unit arrives on location.

Today, Wednesday the 17th of June, the transport of the new to install brake out unit arrived at the Boezemschop.
Marc Clemens Transmark EDS warehouse supervisor will coordinate every step of the installation. With the installation of the Break out Unit the 1000 M² hall has its first residence. Soon all other equipment and tools will find their way from Boekel to the Boezemschop 8.

The new installed overhead crane passes test flawless

Today, Friday the 12th of June, people of the ABUS crew certified the new installed overhead crane. This was just another step towards the finalization and completion of our new building, Transmark EDS Operations Manager Wouter Vink said.
The aim of the grand opening has been set on the 18th of September. According to the people involved this shouldn’t cause any problems as everything is developing on target.

Today Gaz de France reported that Transmark-EDS has done a successful sidetrack in the Cerville field.
Cerville is located close by the France city of Nancy. Transmark-EDS is pleased with the result and hopes to work for Gaz de France in France again anytime soon.

Breekland offices

The new skyline of Breeklands industrial area is developing rapidly.
Transmark-EDS new to build offices has come to its final stages as the constructors are focusing on the finishing touch.
As clearly shown in the picture the outside tile work has almost been concluded. The overall construction is still on schedule and will be ready in time for the grand opening. 

 

April 2009, Transmark-EDS signs contract for the NAM Synergy rig

On April 9th the NAM and Transmark-EDS signed the contract for the onshore drilling activity related to the Synergy rig. The Synergy rig project focuses on the efficient drilling of low cost land wells in The Netherlands and Transmark-EDS will start operations towards the end of May on the Westbeemster 2 well.
This is an excellent opportunity for Transmark-EDS as they have also been requested to provide support on the development of the Scout RSS for the SMART Drilling project.

Transmark-EDS stand appeals to SPE visitors.

Last week (17th – 19th of March) the Amsterdam RAI opened her doors for the SPE/ IADC drilling conference.

This year’s drilling conference also offered a lot of stands exhibiting there diverse range of products. Transmark-EDS brand new stand was well received by the audience. From the core business of directional drilling up to the new motors of Wenzel as well as the innovated software of BOHR, the SPE visitors seemed to like it all. 
The 3 days exhibition has led to many new contacts as well as shaking hands of lost industry friends. Overall we have to say that the exhibition was a great success, general manager Wynand Hoogerbrugge said. We are ready for the next edition of 2011.

Flag placed on highest point

Since today the construction crew has reached the new Transmark-EDS building highest point. While the pictures may let you believe otherwise the cold eastern wind was dictating the construction site. Well it was dictating everybody except one. As clearly showing on the inserted pictures the Irish aren't to be influenced by anything. No wind direction, speed or coldness has effect on them.

Good to know I would say!

The amount of square meters as well as the potentials of the new building are enormous and will be in retrospective to the successes that Transmark-EDS will hope to harvest in the coming years. Let's say that placing the flag on top of the new building was a good kick off point.
